2010 Legislative Summit

PowerPoints:
O'Fallon
and Shiloh Chambers of Commerce Merge
The O'Fallon and Shiloh
Chambers of Commerce are excited to announce the merger of the two
chambers. This alliance will allow the chamber to focus on the region,
in addition to the individual communities A larger membership will
combine some increase in dues revenue without significantly increasing
expenses, eliminate need for dual membership, and increase networking
opportunities.
Both Boards of Directors
are planning to approve the merger, and unless a major reason why
the alliance should not take place is brought to light, the merger
will become effective Monday, February 15, 2010. The allied
chamber's name will be the O'Fallon-Shiloh Chamber of Commerce.
Both the O'Fallon and
the Shiloh Chambers of Commerce Boards of Directors are eager to
begin working together to promote business and economic growth in
their local region.
Current Shiloh Chamber
of Commerce members are invited to immediately begin taking part
in the O'Fallon Chamber of Commerce events. This invitation
is open with no memberhsip fees attached until May 1, 2010.
During the last week of April, memberhsip renewal letters from the
O'Fallon-Shiloh Chamber of Commerce will be sent out. Renewal
will guarantee members access to future monthly and annual events.

President's
Message - September 25, 2009
Last year about this time,
I wrote a President’s message that is more timely than ever.
I said previously the chambers are affected by the economy as much
as or more than business. How can I say that? Because
when business feels threatened that they will not make ends meet
at the end of a month, they start looking for ways to save money.
One common way is to cut professional or business organizations
out of their budgets. We have all watched what is happening
in our business communities and now is the time we must raise the
bar. Remaining the same is not an option, but rather to evolve
into the next generation of chambers and what the business community
needs.

Order
a Salary Survey today
IACCE completed a comprehensive
salary survey in partnership with the MO Chamber Executives.
IACCE hired the American Chamber of Commerce Executives to compile
the data. The end result is a 114 page document including
the data from 80 Illinois Chamber and 40 MO Chambers and sample
job descriptions. The cost is $45 for members and $99 for
non-members. The survey is included in member benefits for
members who participated in the survey. To order the
survey, e-mail your publication
order form to Mary Taylor at mtaylor@ilchamber.org.
What
is a Chamber of Commerce - FLYER
IACCE published a 2 page
flyer in 2008 called "What is a Chamber of Commerce" for
our members to help recruit and retain members. If you have
yet to look at the document, visit http://www.iacce.org/documents/Whatisachamber.pdf.

Social
Media Survey Results
IACCE has asked for chamber's help and you gave it! With more
than 160 chambers participating, the results look interesting.
Initial review of the results state that 100% of you said ...
If you knew more about social media, you would be willing to implement
pieces of it in your communication strategy! More results
to come! View the survey
results here to see how your social media practices compare
with other chambers in Illinois or view the
power point presentation from Learn From the Masters in Springfield!
BE
Counted In 2010
 The
countdown to the 2010 Census has begun. The US Census Bureau
has already launched a critical national effort that affects the
apportionment of congressional seats, and how the federal government
annually allocates $300 billion in federal assistance to state,
local and tribal governments. As an influential business,
community, or organization leader, you can raise awareness of and
encourage participation in this historic event. With your
help, the Census Bureau will continue to produce
accurate data, which will directly affect the quality of life in
your community. For more information about the 2010 Census,
go to www.census.gov.
