Join this foundational workshop after taking the assessment online prior to conference and learn what your custom profile assessment says about your engagement style - both in and outside of the workplace. It is commonplace for organizations to confuse personality and behavioral assessments, and to try to use them interchangeably. In contrast to personality tests, behavioral assessments don't reveal core personality types. Instead, it reveals how an employee acts in an environment. Personality makes up one half of the equation; the other half is how the personality responds to a particular situation in a workplace setting. Personality and situations interact and produce thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Assessments that characterize personality types are only useful if people have a practical way to apply the information from the results to the work environment. A popular personality test is the Myers-Briggs Type indicator. In comparison, DISC is a validated Behavioral Assessment used by over 60% of fortune 500 companies. You can discover personality types through tests. However, changing them is another story. The good news is that a behavioral assessment will show how individuals adapt to their surroundings - how they work within situations. Companies gain both culturally and financially from understanding how a person adapts and how their particular behaviors will fit within a particular job and environment.

Kimberly has more than 20 years’ experience leading nonprofit organizations and is the leading expert on BIDs (SSAs) in Chicago. Her professional background has provided her with expertise in affordable housing development, community organizing, TIFs, BIDs, commercial district planning, strategic planning, Board development and fundraising. Erin is a speaker for Google’s Get Your Business Online program. She has spent the vast majority of her career working for and with small businesses and nonprofits in a variety of roles. Her passion for small business began with her family owned businesses. After college she learned the ins and outs of nonprofits, earning consecutive titles of Midsize Chamber of Commerce of the year as its executive. In recent years, she’s been working with marketing and technology companies like Constant Contact and Google, whose products make digital marketing easier for small businesses. Erin has educated tens of thousands of attendees across North America in both small and large groups. A small business owner herself, she promises that you will leave today with simple, easy tips to immediately improve your marketing program. Jeff Griffin, IOM, President & CEO, Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce
Jeff Griffin, IOM, MSSW has served as President & CEO of the 1,000 member, Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce since 2014. In 2016, Jeff was named to simultaneously serve as President & CEO of the CEO Council Foundation to foster community development, advance regional projects and build community vibrancy. Jeff, his wife Rosy and three children have lived in Peoria since moving from Wooster, OH in 2014. Named as the IACCE 2018 Illinois Chamber Executive of the Year, Jeff is recognized as an expert in team building and professional coaching. He is a dynamic leader with 25 years of executive leadership experience in non-profit organizational management. Jeff has the unique strength of being effective where business, government and community intersect. In addition to his daily work, Jeff serves on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute Midwest Board of Regents, Illinois Association of Chamber Executives Board, Enjoy Peoria Board and Rotary. Jeff graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Criminology and the University of Texas at Arlington with a M.S. in Social Work. His work career is highlighted by time with Father Flanagan’s Boys Town, the Village Network, Wooster City Council President, Wooster (OH) Area Chamber of Commerce and his current dual role. Robin Hammond, Director or Marketing & Communications, Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce
Prior to joining the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce in 2016, Robin Hammond was with The Second City, Chicago’s legendary improv & sketch comedy theater, for over sixteen years. During her time at The Second City, she served in many roles for the company including producer as well as director of marketing & communications in support of their theaters, training center and corporate division, Second City Works. During her time with The Second City, Robin produced and promoted hundreds of events in Chicago and all over the country. Additionally, Robin was an active member of the local business, tourism and cultural community serving on the Board of Directors for the League of Chicago Theaters and the Old Town Merchants and Residents Association. Robin holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and currently lives with her family in Lincoln Park, Chicago.
Scott D. Hart, CEO, Moose International
Scott became the tenth CEO of the Moose fraternal organization in December 2012. He is the youngest to lead the organization since Moose International’s first in 1909. For a full decade before this new appointment, he served as Executive Director for one of the nation’s top residential education programs, Mooseheart Child City and School, Inc. Scott’s current responsibilities include the development and oversight of a new brand under the Moose corporate umbrella, Lodgic Everyday Community. The first location recently opened in Champaign, IL, in October 2018, with construction underway in Madison, WI and Louisville, KY. With a degree in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University, Scott and his wife Christie began at Mooseheart as Houseparents for eleven elementary girls. Scott earned his master’s degree in Human Service Administration from National Louis University during his time serving in various administrative capacities at Mooseheart.

Sheree Anne is the chief executive of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) representing more than 10,000 industry professionals. She’s responsible for leading the team which serves the community via professional development, innovative problem solving, best practices, and industry thought leadership. Previously, Sheree Anne was senior vice president of the Public Affairs Council and executive director of their foundation. During her 16 years at the global association, she served as chief public affairs expert, and oversaw thought leadership, consulting and benchmarking services. During her tenure, she opened the Council’s first international office in Brussels. Prior roles include positions in the government affairs department of the National Association of Home Builders, and serving on the corporate development and corporate relations teams at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Sheree Anne holds an MBA from Georgetown, a Master of Arts in Government from Johns Hopkins and a Bachelor of Arts from Bucknell University. Current industry leadership roles include serving on the executive committee of the World Chambers Federation and as a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Committee of 100. She’s also a board member of the Engalitcheff Institute on Comparative Political and Economic Systems and immediate past- chair of the Bucknell Institute for Public Policy.
Melissa Lagowski, President, Founder, and Queen Bee, Big Buzz Ideas
Melissa created Big Buzz Idea Group in November 2004 so Chicagoland nonprofits would have an honest outsourcing partner to bring their largest projects to life. After raising nearly $6 million dollars for clients, Melissa is dedicated to providing full operational support that will allow charitable organizations to run more effectively. With 26 years of corporate and nonprofit experience, she has launched and executed large fundraisers, conceived several innovative and lucrative new programs, coordinated a variety of dinners/awards functions and organized numerous conferences/workshops. Her largest project to date is Ribfest Chicago, where she is responsible for every facet of the event including festival promotion, sponsorship development, entertainment booking and vendor management. Kelsey Litchfield is the marketing and member engagement manager for the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce. She holds a degree in agricultural communications from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Kelsey is also the owner and founder of Kelsey Litchfield Creative, a digital storytelling business where she works with rural business owners to unleash their own story and digital marketing strategy.
Adam believes in the potential of leaders to make their organizations remarkable and do work that can change their communities and the world. He is a dedicated leader that has transformed struggling organizations into ones that are globally recognized. Adam works with executives, leaders and boards to help them achieve remarkability through organizational renewal and transformation. He recently served as a Vice Chair of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, and currently serves as Canada’s representative on the General Council of the World Chamber Federation. Adam is a recipient of the Calgary Top 40 Under 40, and in November of 2017 was awarded a Canada Senate 150 Medal, awarded by the Senate of Canada to only 1,500 Canadians for their work and dedication in improving the quality of life in their communities.
Todd Maisch, President & CEO, Illinois Chamber of Commerce
As president and CEO, Todd Maisch establishes the goals for the Chamber and coordinates the efforts of the various councils and staff. Maisch has spearheaded such critical achievements as directing and releasing the Waterways: A Crisis Continued report on the state's waterways transportation system, and the Illinois Military Base and Defense Industry Assets Economic Impact Study: State and Regional Analyses report. Each have become the basis for legislative testimony, public outreach, and have been cited in planning documents by various groups. Within hours of the November 2014 election, Maisch was tapped by Gov.-elect Bruce Rauner to sit on his economic development transition committee. Because of Maisch's extensive experience in government and business, he is uniquely qualified to provide insight into how government can encourage a healthy economy. He has been featured on the Illinois Channel and numerous publications, and speaks to several business-related organizations about the business community's needs and the Chamber's successes. Maisch has been with the Chamber for 20 years. Maisch holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana, and an MBA from Illinois State University. Prior to joining the Chamber in 1994, Todd worked for the General Assembly as a research analyst for the House Republican staff. While working for the General Assembly, he staffed the House Revenue and State Government Committees. He also served as a policy analyst for the House Republican Campaign Committee where he managed political campaigns.
Dawn Mushill, Executive Director, Troy, Maryville, St Jacob, Marine Chamber of Commerce
Dawn Mushill has been a public speaker ever since people have listened. She started speaking in front of people in 1994, when she was student teaching. She loved seeing the light bulbs go off in the crowd as she spoke, so she started providing customer service training. She was inspired to become a public speaker because she felt she could assist companies in setting up expectations and providing solid training on what level of customer service the company would like to achieve. Working in management for 20 years and also as an adjunct professor at Southwestern Illinois College for 16 years, Dawn gives seminars about customer service and attitude from a new, fresh perspective that her audiences enjoy and understand. An incredibly flexible and animated speaker, Dawn has spoken to audiences on the radio, television, international radio, to non-profits, for profits, schools, large companies, and small companies. Her most requested topics include “Change Your Attitude, Change Your Underwear,” customer service, stress management, time management, and living the life you love, and she uses real-life stories and a plan to implement the ideas she presents immediately. She hopes to speak all over the United States to inspire people to do their best, and she also wants to sing in a country band someday. Dawn has also written and published a book, Customer Service and Beyond… It is all about the WOW!, and she is currently working on two more books. She truly has a passion for what she does each and every single day and encourages people to find their passion – their entire lives will change!
Chuck Rice, brio EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT
Chuck is one of the very fortunate people to have found his passion and purpose. Therefore, he founded brio EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT. Chuck’s experience over the last 30 years in the business world includes positions at Kraft, Boston Scientific, Abbott and the position of Sr. Director of Management & Leadership Development for a Fortune 50 corporation. Chuck enjoyed success in field sales, marketing, training and development, and key account management. Chuck has also held district, regional and director-level management positions. He mentors many past associates on a regular basis and does extensive research into employee development trends and initiatives. Chuck is trained in many programs including Situational Leadership, Integrity Selling, Shapiro Negotiation, Emotional Intelligence, Performance Standard Models, and Generations in the Workplace. Chuck is a licensed practitioner/facilitator for DISC and Insights Discovery/ Navigator diagnostic assessments. Chuck is also certified as a Mindfulness Ambassador through the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program in Chicago, Illinois. Chuck has been a keynote speaker on several topics on many occasions. In addition to his professional corporate experience, Chuck has owned and operated three small businesses over the last 20 years. Chuck graduated from Bradley University with a degree in Business Administration and Psychology. He is a lifelong Bears, Cubs and Hawks fan. His greatest joy is to be called dad by his three kids Sarah, Lauren, and Joe.
